68 Days Inside documents the period surrounding the birth of my daughter, Amelia. During the second lockdown, I was admitted to hospital at 24 weeks pregnant and remained there until her birth. I was separated from my family, isolated and navigating the uncertainty around both our health.
During that time, I began documenting each day as a form of visual diary. Without access to my usual tools, I worked with post-it notes and biro pens, creating one small drawing per day. Amelia was born ten weeks early and spent nearly two months in NICU. Each drawing represents a single day, the highs, the lows and the reality of those 68 days spent in hospital.
The project became a complete record of that experience, created day by day under constraint. I was honoured for this work to be selected by Grayson Perry and featured in Series 3 of Grayson’s Art Club.
